- So everyone picks the same subject by the same name
So everyone picks the same subject by the same name
Adding a subject to the shared list is a platform administrator's job. Anyone else who attempts it has the request refused rather than applied. The same rule covers editing a subject, deleting one, and uploading the image that goes with it.
How it is done today
Where anyone can add subjects, one subject ends up with five spellings and every report counts them as five different things. A question as simple as how many students take a subject then has no answer you can rely on.
How it works
- 1
Go to the admin subjects page
Administrators have their own page for managing subjects. The list and the action for adding one sit there.
- 2
Fill in the new subject
Give the subject the details it needs. Which fields are accepted is fixed in advance, so anything in the wrong shape is refused.
- 3
It joins the shared list
Once added, the subject appears in the list everyone picks from, so the same subject is chosen by the same name across the institution.

Frequently asked questions
Can a teacher add a subject this way?
No. Adding to the shared list is an administrator's job. A teacher who needs one can create a custom subject for themselves instead.
Who can edit or delete a subject?
Those are administrator actions too, and uploading a subject's image is held to the same rule.
What happens if a non-administrator tries?
The request is refused and the reply says administrator access is required, so nothing is quietly added behind the scenes.
