A wrong date does not mean posting it all again
An announcement posted to a classroom can be corrected afterwards. Choose edit from the actions beside the post, change what is wrong and save, and the screen confirms it worked. Editing is limited to the people with edit access to that classroom.
How it is done today
A post written in a hurry goes out with the wrong exam date, and if the only fix is deleting and reposting, students end up looking at two announcements with no way to tell which one is the real one.

Locate the post that needs correcting in the classroom's list of announcements. The actions sit beside each one.

Start editing
Choose edit from the actions beside the post. The existing text comes up, so nothing has to be retyped from scratch.

Correct it and save
Change what is wrong and save. The screen confirms when it has worked, and says so when it has not.

Frequently asked questions
Does editing send another notification?
No. A notification is raised only when an announcement is first posted. Correcting one sends students nothing a second time.
Can I edit another teacher's announcement?
That depends on whether you have edit access to that classroom. Without it, the change is refused rather than applied.
What if the announcement is not there?
If the post has already been removed, editing tells you it could not be found rather than failing silently.
