Keep last term's notices off the top of the list
Any announcement can be taken out of a classroom's list. Choose the remove action beside the post and it leaves the list, with the screen confirming it has gone. Removing is limited to the people who have edit access to that classroom.
How it is done today
Last term's exam timetable and a notice about a class that was cancelled months ago sit at the top of the list, so a new student reads those first and has no way to tell which notices still apply.

Find the announcement
Locate the post you want to remove in the classroom's list. The actions sit beside each announcement.

Choose remove
Take the remove action beside the post. The screen shows the action is in progress while it runs.

It leaves the list
Once it finishes, the announcement is gone from the classroom's list and you are told it worked.

Frequently asked questions
Can a removed announcement be brought back?
There is no way to restore one from inside the classroom, so it is worth being sure the post is no longer needed before removing it.
Are students told when a post is removed?
No. Notifications are raised only when an announcement is first posted. Removing one sends nothing to anybody.
Can any teacher remove an announcement?
No. Only those with edit access to that classroom, and without it the action is refused rather than carried out.
