A teacher who already has a marking scheme as a file can attach it and have its per-question marks and mark bands read out into a structured form. Supplying the whole document carries the mark bands through to the marker, where they are later used for checking.

What if there is no rubric file?
Then one can be generated from the answer material instead. That is a separate action, and it costs no credits either.
Why does supplying the whole document matter?
Because the document carries the mark bands and those reach the marker. A flat list of questions and totals carries no bands, and marking can come out softer as a result.
Does this cost credits?
No. Reading a rubric, generating one and parsing the question paper are all free. There is only a limit of twenty calls a minute per teacher.
Can mistakes in the reading be corrected?
Yes. What is extracted is editable on the same screen, and the mark allocations can be set the way you want before the session is created.
