Reading the question paper's structure
The question paper is read and broken into its individual questions, their marks and the choice rules between them. The condition familiar from Bangladeshi papers, answer any three of seven, is captured as part of that structure and used later when the scripts are marked.
How it is done today
Our question papers are not flat lists of equally weighted questions. There are sections, there is answer any three of seven, and marks are split across sub-parts. Mark a script without understanding those rules and the totals do not add up, and a student who correctly answered three carries four zeroes into their total.

Supply the paper
Give the paper as text or as an image. If one was already attached to the session, that is used and nothing needs supplying again.

Questions and marks come apart
Each question and its marks are separated out, including marks split across sub-parts, rather than left as one block of text.

Choice rules are recognised
Conditions such as answer any three of seven are identified as choice sets. Marking later uses those rules to decide which answers count.

Failure is reported, not hidden
If the paper cannot be understood, the step does not fail quietly. The session records plainly that the structure could not be read.

Frequently asked questions
Are optional questions counted correctly?
The choice rules are kept as part of the structure, so marking counts the answers the student actually wrote and does not subtract the ones they were free to skip.
What if the paper cannot be read?
The session records that the structure could not be parsed and returns exactly that. It does not fail silently or leave the session hanging half-finished.
Does this read the student's script?
No. Only the question paper is read at this step. Reading a student's handwriting happens later, once scripts are added, and that is the step that costs credits.
Can it overwrite details already entered?
No. For the exam year, the paper and the curriculum, whatever is already on the session wins. Parsed values only fill in what was left blank.
