A teacher with no written rubric to hand can have a structured one generated from the answer material. It comes back broken into parts with the marks set against each of them, editable on the spot. No credits at all are spent at this step.
How it is done today
Writing the rubric down is not the habit in most institutions here. The teacher knows what an answer is worth, but putting it on paper takes time nobody has. So two near-identical answers to the same question get different marks on different days, and the inconsistency cannot be explained afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
What if a rubric already exists?
Then this is not needed. Attach the rubric file directly and its structure is read from there, with nothing generated.
Does supplying a file differ from generating one?
Yes, and it matters later. A full rubric document carries its mark bands through to the marker. A flat list of criteria and totals carries no bands, and marking can come out softer as a result.
Is the generated rubric used as-is?
Not before the teacher has seen it. It arrives editable on the same screen, and whatever they leave in place becomes the marking standard.
Does this cost credits?
No. Generating a rubric, reading one from a file and parsing the question paper are all free. Credits begin when scripts are added for marking.
