Ending a class recording stores the file and queues the work that turns it into notes. Recording and storing cost nothing; credits are spent making the notes, one per started minute. With too few credits the recording is kept and the notes job waits.
How it is done today
Losing the connection mid-class is ordinary in Bangladesh. When it drops on the last step of an upload the app retries, and a system that is not careful about that charges twice for the same class and produces two sets of notes.

Twice pressed, once charged
If a job already exists for this class, that job is returned instead of a second one being started, so a retry never charges twice.

The recording is always kept
The file is stored whether or not there are credits, because recording is free and losing the audio is not an acceptable outcome.

Priced by the minute
Making the notes costs one credit per started minute, so even a recording of half a minute costs a single credit rather than nothing.

Short on credits means waiting
Too few credits parks the class in a waiting state with the amount needed reported, rather than throwing an error at the teacher.

Refunded if it cannot start
If the job cannot be queued after the credits were taken, they are returned, so a charge is never left stranded against nothing.

Frequently asked questions
Are the notes ready as soon as recording ends?
No. Ending the recording queues the job and returns its id. Making the notes takes time, and the class's own page shows which stage that job has reached.
Is the recording lost when credits run short?
No, the recording is kept and the class waits for credits. The amount needed is reported, and trying again once there are credits produces the notes.
Can the same class be charged twice?
Not at this step. If a job already exists, that one is returned and nothing further is taken. This is deliberate, because a dropped connection makes the app retry.
What does half a minute cost?
One credit. The cost is counted in started minutes with a minimum of one, so a very short recording is not summarised for free.
