One click opens an account for everyone on the list
In ClassTablet, once checks are done and the admin confirms, every row in the file becomes a student or teacher account and joins the institution as a member. The roll or ID in the file becomes the member's institution ID, and students with one get a generated student ID. The job runs in the background.
How it is done today
After a new batch is admitted, the office assistant types each student's name, phone and roll into the software one by one. Two hundred students take days, classes start in the meantime, and in the rush one roll number lands on two names. Until then teachers keep taking attendance in the old register.

Check the import summary
Step four shows how many new accounts will be created, how many existing users updated, how many added to the institution, how many skipped and how many error rows left out.

Keep the welcome message on or off
With the welcome switch on, new users get a welcome message in their ClassTablet inbox, and by email too if they have one.

Start the import
Once confirmed, the job starts in the background and works through the rows 50 at a time. Student and teacher profiles are created automatically.

Rolls and IDs are set
The file's institution_id or roll becomes the member's ID, and no two members can share one. Students with an ID also get a generated student ID.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can we import at once?
Up to 5,000 rows per file, one person per row. For a longer list, split it across several files and upload them one after another.
What if two students share a roll number?
An ID can belong to only one member of the institution. The second row fails as an error and shows the reason in the results.
Do new students get any message?
With the welcome switch on, each new person gets a message in their ClassTablet inbox, and an email if they have an address. No SMS goes out at this step.
Is there a record of who imported what?
Yes. After each import, who ran it and how many people were created, updated or skipped is kept in the institution's audit log.
