A whole year's classrooms from one file
In ClassTablet an admin uploads one Excel or CSV file and creates up to 5,000 classrooms at once. Each classroom gets its own class code and starts as a draft, so it can be checked before it opens. When a teacher email matches one of the institution's teachers, that teacher becomes the class's teacher automatically.
How it is done today
At a coaching centre a new session means new batches: morning and afternoon shifts, different subjects, different teachers. Opening each batch by hand means typing the name, room, seats and teacher again and again, and one slip sends students the wrong batch's code.

Upload the file
In step one of Bulk add classrooms, drop in a .csv, .xlsx or .xls file of up to 10 MB and 5,000 rows.

Match the columns
In step two, match the file's columns to Title, Section, Room, Max Students and Teacher Email. You can't continue until at least Title is matched.

Confirm and import
Check the preview of the first three rows, press import and agree to the confirmation. The job runs in the background with progress on screen.

Classrooms are created as drafts
Each classroom is created as a draft with a new class code. A matching teacher email adds that teacher; otherwise the class waits without one.

Frequently asked questions
Do students see imported classes straight away?
Classrooms are created as drafts. The admin or teacher checks the details and opens the class, and only then hands the class code to students.
Does the teacher need to be in ClassTablet already?
Yes. teacher_email only matches teachers already in your institution. So import your teachers first, then upload the classroom file.
What happens to the other rows if one fails?
The remaining classrooms keep being created even if one row fails. At the end you see how many were created and how many failed, and it is kept in the audit log.
