Two letters of a name is enough

Wherever a teacher has to be chosen for a classroom, typing part of a name or an email brings up the matching teachers at your institution. Only members whose role is teacher appear, the matches come back in name order, and up to twenty five are shown at a time.

How it is done today

At an institution with forty teachers, finding the right name in a long dropdown takes real time, and when two of them share a first name there is a genuine chance of putting the wrong person in front of a class.

How it works

  1. 1

Go to where a teacher is chosen

The search box appears when you create a classroom and when you manage the teachers attached to one.

  2. 2

Type part of the name or email

You do not need the whole thing. Any part of the name or the email address will match, and capital letters make no difference.

  3. 3

    Pick from the matches

Choose the teacher from the list, which comes back in name order. The email beside each name separates two people who share one.

  4. 4

Type more if the list is long

Up to twenty five names come back at a time, so add a few more letters if the one you want is not among them.

Frequently asked questions

Who appears in the results?

Only members of your institution whose role is teacher. Nobody in another role is returned by this search.

Can I search by email as well?

Yes. What you type is matched against both the name and the email, which is how two teachers with the same name are told apart.

Why can I not see every teacher at once?

A single search returns up to twenty five names so that it stays quick. The full list of staff lives on the members page.
