Nobody has to be left out for want of an email
An administrator opens an account by giving a name and a role. Either an email or a phone number is required, not both. When a new account is created, a temporary password comes back once so the administrator can pass it on, and it also goes out in a welcome email when an email address was given.
How it is done today
Plenty of students in Bangladesh have no email address of their own, only a phone number, and often that belongs to a parent. Software that insists on an email leaves you inventing fake ones or keeping students off the list entirely.
How it works
- 1
Go to add a member
Start from the institution's member management page and choose to add somebody new.
- 2
Give the name and role
Type the person's name and choose one of the three roles: teacher, student or parent.
- 3
Email or phone, either one
At least one of the two is needed. Providing neither comes back asking for one rather than saving a contactless account.
- 4
Pass on the temporary password
A temporary password comes back once for a newly created account. When you gave an email address it is also sent in a welcome email; when you gave only a phone number, relaying it is on you.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need both an email and a phone number?
No. Either one is enough. Providing neither has the request refused with a note asking for one of the two.
Will one person end up with two accounts?
An existing account matched by email or phone can be linked instead of a second one being created, which is what avoids duplicates.
Can I see the temporary password again later?
No. It comes back once, and only for a newly created account, so it needs passing to the person straight away.
