Publish the form and open admissions
Pressing publish puts the form into a live state and its public address starts accepting applications. The first publish is also what creates that address. Every publish stores the questions and fee figures of that moment as their own numbered version, so earlier versions are never overwritten.
How it is done today
Once a paper form is printed, changing the fee wastes the whole print run. Online it is worse if an edit rewrites applications already in flight, because then nobody can show what terms somebody actually applied under, and a fee dispute leaves both sides with nothing to point at.

A classroom with no form yet gets its public address created at publish time, and the form's title starts from the classroom's own name.

Stored as a version
Each publish copies the questions and fee figures of that moment into a new numbered version, and the versions before it stay in place.

After publishing, the form's state becomes live and the version just stored is the one applicants are shown from that point on.

Somebody who already started applying stays tied to the version they began on, so the terms do not change under them mid-way.

What happens if you publish a live form again?
Another version is stored and applicants start seeing that one. The form's address does not change, so links and QR codes already printed or shared keep working exactly as before.
Can publishing be scheduled for later?
No, publishing happens when the button is pressed. We do not claim a way to have admissions open by themselves on a set date, so the form is published by hand on the day.
Who is allowed to publish a form?
Anyone with permission to update that classroom, which means its teachers and the institution's admins. Without that permission the publish request is refused rather than quietly ignored.
