Find the attendance gaps on a month calendar
A teacher sees the whole month at once. Each day carries two separate marks: whether the timetable had a class that day, and whether attendance was actually taken. Days that had a class but no record are the ones worth finding, and they stand apart from the rest.
How it is done today
At the end of the month the hardest question is which days were genuinely a holiday and which ones someone simply forgot to mark. In a register both look identical, an empty row, with no way to tell them apart. So either the numbers come out wrong, or the teacher sits with the timetable and the register side by side and works through the whole month by hand.

Pick the month
The calendar opens on a year and month. You can narrow it to a single classroom, in which case only that class's days appear in the grid.

Two marks, kept separate
Each day carries a timetable mark and an attendance mark independently. Both present means the day is done; a timetable mark with no attendance mark means that day was missed.

Off-timetable classes show too
A day with attendance taken but no class on the timetable still appears in the calendar. Extra sessions and cover classes are not quietly lost from the record.

For each day attendance was taken, every record carries the class name, how many students were present and how many there were in total.

Frequently asked questions
Can you tell a holiday from a forgotten day?
Yes, and that is the point of the grid. A holiday has no class on the timetable, so the day carries no mark at all. A forgotten day carries the timetable mark but no attendance mark.
Do classes held off the timetable appear?
Yes. A day with attendance taken but nothing scheduled still shows in the calendar, just without the timetable mark. Extra and cover classes are therefore not left out of the count.
Does the calendar show a monthly average?
No. Each record carries how many students were present and how many there were in total on that day, but no average or rate is worked out across the month here.
Can you see one class on its own?
Yes. Choosing a classroom narrows the calendar to that class's timetable and records only. Leaving it unset shows all of the teacher's classes together.
