The mark box is right beside the answer
Choosing a student on a quiz's submissions page opens their whole paper with a mark and comment box beside each answer. What you type is saved as you go, and the left and right arrow keys move to the previous or next student.
How it is done today
Marking written answers on paper and copying the totals into the app afterwards is two steps, and errors creep into the second one. A mark lands on the wrong row, and if the page closes half way through, the last half hour of work is gone.
How it works

Open a paper
Pick a student from the sidebar on the quiz's submissions page. Their answers are laid out in the main area.

Mark answer by answer
Each answer has its own mark and comment box, so reading the answer and awarding the mark happen in the same place.

It saves as you type
Marks and comments are stored as they are entered. There is no separate save button to remember.

Arrow keys to the next student
Left and right arrows move to the previous or next student, so a whole batch can be worked through without the mouse.

Frequently asked questions
What if I leave before something saves?
If anything is still unsaved you are warned before the page closes, so marks are not lost by walking away from the tab.
Do I mark every question by hand?
No. Anything that can be checked automatically already carries its mark. The teacher's work is mostly the written answers.
Can I link straight to one student's paper?
Yes. An attempt has an address of its own, and opening it brings up the same workspace on that student's answers.
