The routine is already a spreadsheet
An administrator uploads a spreadsheet, says which column holds what, and creates many classrooms in one go. The work is handed to a background job that moves fifty rows at a time, so there is no page to sit and wait on, and the result says what happened to each row.
How it is done today
The routine for the year is usually built in a spreadsheet already, sections and rooms and all. Re-entering it one classroom at a time means filling the same few fields forty or fifty times, which is exactly where spelling and section mix-ups creep in.

Choose the file
Go to the import page and upload your classroom file. A template can be downloaded first if you would rather start from one.

Match up the columns
Your column headings are matched to the fields automatically where they can be, Bengali headings included. Anything that missed can be set by hand.

Start the import
Once started, the work runs in the background and a progress bar follows it, so you are not held on the page.

Read the result
At the end you are shown how many classrooms were created and which rows had a problem, named by row number.

Imported classrooms arrive as drafts, so look them over before putting them in front of anybody.

Frequently asked questions
Can my column headings be in Bengali?
Yes. The Bengali headings for class name, section, room, teacher email and teacher name are recognised the same way the English ones are.
What if a teacher's email does not match anybody?
The row is not thrown away. The classroom is created without a teacher and one can be attached afterwards, rather than losing the classroom over an address.
Are the imported classrooms live straight away?
No. They are created as drafts, so you get a chance to look them over before they go live.
