Show where the points came from
A student's points record lists each addition and each deduction separately, with its reason and the total as it stands. A teacher can open any student's record in the batch, and a student can open only their own rather than anybody else's.
How it is done today
A bare total is something a student cannot check, and when it comes out low they complain. Without being able to show what was earned for what, every one of those conversations rests on memory and never settles.

Pick a name from the leaderboard
Choosing a student on the batch's leaderboard opens their points record beside it.

Read the entries
Each row says how many points were added or taken away and why, the reason having been required when the points were given.

Check the running total
The record carries the current total alongside the entries, so nobody has to add the rows up by hand to check it.

One record across sections
The record is built for the main batch, so moving a student between sections does not split their points into two histories.

Frequently asked questions
Can one student read another's record?
No. Without being a teacher or running the batch, a person can only open their own record, and asking for somebody else's is refused.
Does every entry carry a reason?
It does. A reason is required when points are awarded, so no entry can exist in the record without one attached to it.
Are deductions recorded too?
They are. Additions and deductions are both written as their own rows, so when points were taken away is just as visible.
