Write down why the points were given
A teacher can add points to a student in the batch or take them away. The number cannot be zero, and a reason has to be written before it will go through. Who awarded the points is recorded alongside them.
How it is done today
Praise and penalties handed out verbally are never written down. At the end of the month there are arguments about who did what, and the teacher cannot reliably remember why one student came out lower, so the decisions look arbitrary.
How it works

Pick the student from the leaderboard
Choosing a student from the batch's leaderboard opens the panel for adding or taking away their points.

Set the number
Enter how many points to add, or a negative number to take some away. Zero is rejected rather than quietly accepted.

Write the reason
Say why the points are being given or removed. Without a reason the submit button does nothing and the field is marked as invalid.

Submit it
Submitting records the points against that student, along with who it was that awarded them.

Frequently asked questions
Can a student award themselves points?
No. Awarding is limited to the batch's teachers and the people running it, and a request from anyone else is refused.
Can points be taken away?
They can. A negative number deducts points, and that is written into the record with its reason in exactly the same way.
How long can the reason be?
Up to five hundred characters, and at least one character once the spaces are trimmed off, or the award is not accepted.
