Everybody can see where they stand
The batch's leaderboard ranks students by their points. It is built for the main batch, so students split across sections all land on one list, each of them appearing once. Each student is also shown their own position and their own total separately.
How it is done today
Who is keeping up and who is slipping usually lives in the teacher's head, and a student never finds out where they actually stand. A straightforward reason to do better is lost, and comparisons get made on guesswork instead.

Turn points on for the batch
Without points switched on there is no leaderboard tab in the classroom at all, so that setting comes first.

Open the leaderboard tab
The classroom's leaderboard tab lists students in order of their points, with each one's name and picture alongside.

See your own position
A student is given their own rank and total directly, so they do not have to read down the whole list looking for themselves.

Even where the batch is split into sections the list is built for the main batch, and each student appears on it exactly once.

Frequently asked questions
Does a student in two sections appear twice?
No. Each student appears once, at their best position, so nobody finds their own name sitting in two different places on the list.
What happens when points are switched off?
The list comes back empty saying the feature is off rather than as an error, and the classroom does not show the tab in the first place.
Where does the unit come from?
From the batch's own settings, which choose either XP or stars. Whichever is set is the unit the leaderboard is shown in.
