Approving an enrolment from the student list

A classroom's own student list shows the enrolments still waiting, and they can be approved or rejected right there. A reason can be recorded when rejecting. After the decision the list, the pending count and the roster all refresh together.

How it is done today

Pending enrolments live on one page and the class's students on another, and going back and forth between them is how the job gets put off. New students then wait for days, the course starts without them, and they miss the first few classes.

How it works

  1. 1

Waiting students show in the list

Open the classroom's student list and the enrolments still pending are there among them. There is no separate page to go to first.

  2. 2

    Decide from there

Each waiting name can be approved or rejected from where it sits, without leaving the list you were already looking at.

  3. 3

    A rejection reason is optional

A reason can be written when rejecting. Leaving the box empty stores nothing at all rather than saving a blank reason.

  4. 4

    Everything refreshes together

After the decision the student list, the pending count and the class roster all reload together, with no need to refresh the page yourself.

What runs on its own, what stays in your hands

What happens automatically

Once you decide, the system reloads every related list on its own, so nothing stale is left sitting on screen.

What you control

Who is taken in and who is not is the teacher's decision, taken one at a time. Nobody is enrolled automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the join request page?

The decision is the same; the place is different. It can be done from the pending requests list of its own, or from the classroom's student list. Use whichever is in front of you.

Does the student see the rejection reason?

The reason is stored on the enrolment record, but the notice that reaches the student carries the classroom name rather than the reason. It is for the institution's own records.

Can many be approved at once?

No, each enrolment is approved or rejected on its own. We do not claim a way to approve a whole list in one action.

What happens if the reason box is left empty?

Nothing is stored. An empty box, or one holding only spaces, is not saved as a reason, so the records do not fill up with blank ones.
