After the first time, no code to wait for
Somebody who already has a password chooses their institution, matches their ID and then signs in with that password, without waiting for a code to arrive. Anybody whose password has not been set yet is told to finish their account setup first.
How it is done today
Waiting for a code on every sign-in means losing the start of a class whenever the signal is poor. For something done every day, that does not hold up.
How it works

Give the institution and your ID
As in the two earlier steps, choose your institution and match your identity with your ID.

Type your password
Enter the password set on your account. A wrong one is reported straight away.

Go in
On a match your session is created for that institution, so you land in the right place.

What if no password has been set?
You cannot sign in this way yet. You are asked to finish account setup and set a password first, after which this path works.
Is a code needed here too?
No. Once a password exists, later sign-ins need only the institution, your ID and that password.
What if I belong to more than one institution?
Your session is created for the institution you chose at the start, so there is no landing in the wrong one.
