How people get in is your institution's decision
An institution's administrator decides whether members sign in with an email and password, with an ID and password, or both. At least one method must remain switched on, so the whole institution cannot be locked out by mistake. Institutional sign-in can be turned on or off separately.
How it is done today
In many institutions students have no email address, only an ID number, while the teachers are used to signing in with email. Forcing one method on everybody leaves one group or the other struggling to get in every single day.
How it works

Go to the sign-in section of settings
The institution's settings have their own place for sign-in rules, showing what is currently switched on.

Choose which methods stay open
Pick between email and password and ID and password, or keep both. At least one has to remain selected.

Institutional sign-in
Institutional sign-in can be switched on or off on its own, and access to the platform is set separately from it.

Save it
Saving checks that at least one method is still open, so there is no path to switching everything off at once.

Frequently asked questions
Can every sign-in method be switched off?
No. At least one must stay on, so there is no way to accidentally leave the whole institution unable to get in.
Which sign-in methods are available?
Email with password, and ID with password. The institution decides which of the two, or both, it keeps switched on.
Can we record an EIIN number?
Yes. The institution's EIIN can be stored here, and it can be left empty, so institutions without one are not held up.
