Stop asking somebody for this month's numbers
The institution's first page carries four counts: active students, active teachers, classrooms that have not been deleted, and how many of this month's fee rows have been paid. Each of them counts only that institution's own records, with the month taken on Dhaka time.
How it is done today
Finding out how large the institution has grown usually means ringing somebody, and the answer comes out of their memory. How much of the month's fees came in has to be worked out from a register, and two people's figures never agree.

Open the institution page
Opening the first page of the institution's admin area puts the four count cards along the top before anything else loads.

Read the people counts
Active students and active teachers are counted separately, so people who are no longer active do not inflate either number.

Read the classroom count
Only classrooms that have not been deleted are counted, so batches closed down long ago do not make the institution look larger.

Read this month's fees
How many of the current month's fee rows have been paid is counted, with the month worked out on Dhaka time rather than the server's.

Frequently asked questions
Which timezone decides the month?
The current month is worked out on Dhaka time, so wherever the server happens to be, the month matches the one the institution is living in.
Can another institution's numbers leak in?
No. Every count is filtered to the caller's own institution, so another institution's students or fees never get added into these figures.
Who can see the numbers?
An institution admin. Whether the caller really is an admin of that institution is checked as the request arrives, before any figure is returned.
