Unpaid fee, access paused; paid, access back
In ClassTablet an admin sets the fee's due day, the grace days and the lock type. If the current month's fee is still unpaid after that, the system locks that classroom's material, quizzes and live class on its own. The moment the student submits a payment, everything opens again, even before the teacher has checked it.
How it is done today
It is the 12th and half the batch still hasn't paid. The teacher knows who, but can't name them in front of the class, and saying nothing means the same next month. Some students run three months behind while still taking every note and test. In the end the owner has to phone parents for an awkward conversation.
How it works

Open 'Unpaid access defaults'
The card sits in dashboard settings under the 'Payment Methods' tab. An institution admin sets one rule for the whole institution here; teachers cannot change this card.

Set the due day and grace days
Pick a 'Due day of month' from 1 to 28 and the number of 'Grace days'. With day 1 and 10 grace days, everything stays open to the 10th and locks from the 11th. The last day never goes past the 28th.

Choose a lock mode
'Soft' keeps the classroom open but blocks material, quizzes, assignments and joining live class. 'Hard' blocks the whole classroom. Turn on 'Restrict unpaid students' and press 'Save defaults'.

A different rule for one classroom
For a batch that needs its own rule, turn on 'Override org defaults' in the fees step of that classroom's edit page and set its own day, grace and lock. Leave it off and the institution's rule applies.

Students see it coming
During the grace days the classroom shows 'Fee due this month' with the pay-by date. Once locked it shows why, with a 'Pay now' button, and says other classrooms are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions
Does the lock stay until a teacher checks the payment?
No. As soon as the student submits the payment details, the bill is 'pending' and access reopens. If the teacher later rejects it, the rule applies again.
Is a student who joins mid-month locked on day one?
No. For a student who joined this month, the due day counts from the day they joined, even if the institution's day is earlier, so new students get the full grace period.
Does a partial payment reopen access?
Not yet. Only a paid or pending payment reopens access. A partial or flagged payment keeps the lock, so in that case the teacher can approve the payment to let the student back in.
Are parents sent an SMS when access is locked?
No. Nothing is sent at the moment access closes. The student sees the reason when they open the classroom, and the usual fee reminders still arrive in the app.
